
Rules for crossing the border with animals

To transport animals abroad (in particular to the EU), you must:

Basic rules and documents:
Electronic identification (microchip): The chip must comply with ISO 11784/11785. Microchipping must be performed before rabies vaccination.
Rabies vaccination: The animal must be vaccinated with an effective certified vaccine (no earlier than 30 days before departure, unless it is a revaccination).
International veterinary passport: Issued by a state veterinary clinic, it contains information about the owner, the animal, all vaccinations, and treatments.
Rabies antibody titer certificate: Required for entry into the EU from Ukraine. The test is performed no earlier than 30 days after vaccination and 3 months before travel.
Veterinary certificate (form 1): Issued by the state veterinary service (at the border or in a clinic) and exchanged for an international certificate.
Treatment for parasites: Deworming (for worms) and insecticide treatment (for fleas/ticks) 24–48 hours before departure.
